At age 13, in 1941, David Wiemer, of Troop 25 in Burlington, Iowa, was his
Scoutmaster's first Eagle Scout. When he "retired" from scouting, he had earned 41
merit badges and had the Silver Palm pinned to his Eagle Badge. He served four
years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, on Guam and in the Korean waters.
His BS degree, from Iowa State in '55, was in Landscape Archetecture. His MS
degree was from the University of Illinois. He designed and built parks and directed
park operations. In 1990, after 35 years of public service, he retired from the
Rockford, Illinois Park District. He now lives in Burlington, Iowa once again!
His son, Dan is the artist of this title.
David's first
published work was
a book that was "job
related." Although
this book is long
out-of-print, he
plans on issuing an
up to date version in
the near future.
